Success is a relative term. For some, it means a lot of money, power, good job, big house and the list goes on. For some it means good health, self confidence, attainment of satisfaction, happiness. It can be a mix of abstract and concrete nouns. For majority of us it might be the middle path.

Whatever is your definition of success, one thing important in life is to keep learning and keep on becoming the best version of ourselves. Well it is easier said than done. However nothing beautiful comes out without hard work and consistency. Apart from hard work and consistency let’s find out what more is required.

The greatest thing that is required is mental strength. Mental strength defines your resilience. Resilience is the quality to bounce back quickly from any setback or difficult situation. If you have a strong resilience, there are bright chances for you to quickly bounce back to your previous state of mind and to stop dwelling on the failure.

We all have set goals in our life and there are high chances of not achieving all the goals. The reason and situation could be anything. But if we keep ourselves soaked in the boredom, non-activity, self blaming or blaming others, we are not going to achieve anything. Blaming and failure are part of a viscous circle. One needs to make an effort to come out of this and see things from a fresh perspective.

Make a goal and start

In my view one of the ways to boost your mental strength is to give little task to yourself and try to fulfill at least 50% and then 80% and finally 100% of it.

If you are stuck in a negative feeling start challenging yourself.

  1. List down all the negative feelings that you have experienced in the past.
  2. Now try to not think about them for another 2 hours. This will be the most difficult task. You need to keep checking your thoughts. Chances of their emerging will be very high. Once you feel any negative emotion, play a game and try to turn it affirmative/positive.
  3. If you can do for 2 hours try to increase the duration. Try to follow this till the time you feel pretty confident.

If you are too addicted to social media, try to turn off your mobile, tv or anything which is the source. You can uninstall the apps if you can’t turn of your mobile. Once done, keep aside some time to relax and sit in mediation. Initially you would be so anxious to meditate. Try to relax your mind and body with deep breaths. As you breath in and out try to say, ” I am not a body. I am not a mind. I am not my emotion.” Keep working on yourself and fix only certain hours of day for social media activity. Stop doing it once the time is over. You will soon find things under control.

Apart from this, try to identify your emotion. What is hindering you for not starting the goal or leaving it midway?

  • Are these the sensual desire (addiction to the social media)?
  • Am I feeling negative?
  • Am I properly motivated ? There is dullness or heaviness in the body.
  • Is my mind jumping from one task to another (Monkey mind)?
  • Am I indecisive?

You have to recognize what you are feeling and try to accept it. Investigate more of the experience and then non-identify with your experience.

You have the power in yourself to change your state. Just because few things had not gone correctly in the past doesn’t mean that future will also be a failure. If you are using failure as a lesson, there is nothing that can stop your winning journey.
