It has been and still is a stressful year. Most of us are confined to home. Though it has given us all, a chance to be close to loved ones but it has added a lot of stress. The stress is felt both by the adults and younger people. This adversity has taken toll of people’s health, relations, savings. Being confined to one place with no contact with other people can lead to mood swings, temperamental issues.
We all have choices in life. It is up to us how we define each day. Though we can’t change the situation outside, we can always make small changes in our life. Changes which will lead to small improvement and can help change the situation and stress.
Not enough sunlight
Pull out the blinds every morning. A bright room with sunlight will brighten up your mood. Make an attempt to open up the windows if possible. In case you live in a small space without a window, try to go outside as much as possible.
Put mirrors in your room to amplify the natural light. It will give you a feel of enhanced space and feeling of less space crunch.
Declutter
One should understand that the best way to organize a house is to declutter it. We all have limited spaces and rooms in the house. The space is not going to grow on its own. We have to manage within those boundaries. Most important rule to organize is to declutter as much as possible. Carry out every month the declutter exercise.
Donate, sell, distribute, throw any unnecessary of unused items. If you haven’t used it for last 6 month, it might not be used in future. Let go of that attachment and in-order for your mental peace, let it go.
Use declutter apps or 5 minute activity to declutter any space. We should work on keeping spaces clean and neat, like we work on our body. If we can break down our cleaning activities, we will be able to finish it. The greatest obstruction is our mind. The whole house cleaning seems to be a big daunting task.
You can always break down areas like living, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and then start cleaning. Don’t do all in one go. Set a timer aside for 5 minutes and do as much as you can during that time. Increase your pace as if you have to finish before the timer stops. It will be fun and then you can again work on your main task. If you think of taking a break again, think of this activity. You will be able to maintain a nice and clean home.
With small kids around put a basket
My major cleaning challenge comes with my kids. If I clean my living room within few minutes, it will again be a battle field full of crayons, books and toys lying around. It is not only frustrating on seeing all your efforts wasted within few minutes but also challenging.
I took care of the same, by putting a small basket in every room. I would just pick up all the things around and dumped into the basket. Kids wont even bother touching the same toy again. Even if they want to play again, they can take it from basket. This would save a lot of time. In the evening, I would just put things in the places. This not only saves time but efforts too.
Have energy for yourself – Eat and exercise
The golden rule for a healthier life is to have a healthy body and mind. If you don’t have enough energy, nothing can’t be done. Your job would feel suffocating, you would be putting away even simple chores. Even simple things seem challenging.
In order to be creative or to be an idea machine, you need to feel the energy. It won’t come just by sitting and thinking. Work on it. Keep aside half an hour for yourself where you not only work out but also make a to do list. The list is not only for chores but what you want to achieve for yourself. It can be learning dance or driving or swimming. If it excites you keep it and work for it also. Once you invest time in yourself, everything becomes simple and will give joy.
Hope these tips will also help you, like it has helped me. Stay active, energetic and happy.
